Growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, it seemed like there were dozens of celebrities and popular kids waved in front of me, touted as the prized “hot” people.
My sister and I watched the TV mindlessly as we made strategies in our little minds about how to be like those hot people we saw on the media.
About 5 years ago, I disavowed hotness and sex appeal entirely. I didn’t read any fashion magazines. I gave up TV. I pulled all my attention and energy inward where I could focus on healing from fibromyalgia and CFS and anorexia. All that noise had to go. I was mentally like an ascetic monk in a monastery, far away from the influences of modern beauty standards.
I have recently (within the past 2 years) came to the conclusion that neither extreme is healthy when it comes to dealing with your physical appearance.
The middle path is the way to go. The Buddha knew what he was talking about!
Thinking back to the healing days of when I wore baggy men’s clothes, shapeless shirts, and sported no makeup, I stood firmly against being hot. It’s almost like I wore it as a badge of honor to tone down my looks.
I thought that being seen as hot was something that was fetishized. I didn’t want to be seen that way, so I hid in my proverbial garbage sack for a while.
Now I see that hotness is a spiritual state… much like light, or heat – our souls when they are burning brightly and wildly can be experienced as hot.
HOT is not reserved for the lucky few. It is something that everyone has access to if they so choose.
The blindfolds that tell you that you can’t experience “hot” unless you are 50lbs lighter, or 20 years younger, or what have you are LYING!
Removing those blindfolds becomes increasingly necessary if we are to develop as fully functional spiritual human beings.
That state of hotness we have access to is the life-blood of our creativity, our happiness, and our health.
It is the state in which we experience feeling vital and fully alive.
HOTNESS IS HOLY.
There is nothing profane about it.
It has only become that way and been made exclusive to trick you into thinking that you need to buy XYZ product to be hot.
The truth is, hotness doesn’t depend on what you look like.
It depends on what you feel.
And not a surface level emotion either.
It’s what you feel DEEEEEP down in your soul.
Your feel hot now action step:
When you wake up in the morning, notice how your body feels. Are you zesty, peppy, and ready to take on the day? Or are you dragging while fumbling for the espresso? You could choose to go through your whole day in a sub-optimal state, or you could choose to shift towards hotness. Sacred hotness. The hotness of life itself.
Allow the waves of sound to enrapture you as you belt out your favorite tune.
Stand in the shower and allow the warm water to run down your spine. Feel the heat spread throughout your body.
And let me know how it goes. Being able to shift your energy at will is really powerful!
